MASCARA REVIEW: Maybelline Smokey eyes

So here's another mascara review! I tried out another one from Maybelline, this time the Colossal Volume Express Smoky eyes.

Let's take a look at the wand first. It looks quite normal, and as if it would be perfect to build up lots of volume with. This could be ideal to finish up a smoky eye look.

Use: This mascara certainly gives volume and holds a curl, but it clumps together like nobodies business. I wouldn't recommend using more than two layers of this mascara because it just ends up being one big clumped together mess. It doesn't separate or lengthen at all. This also means it does pretty much nothing for my lashes.

As for the smokey eye effect, it does create thick lashes, but if it just clumps it won't really compliment your look. I recommend using an other product if you'd like a mascara to compliment your smoky eye look.

Price: Around €15.

Conclusion: I'm not repurchasing. Let me know if this mascara does work for you?

Mascara review: Maxfactor Clump Defy

It's been a while since I've done a mascara review. The one responsible for this crime has been the Maxfactor Clump Defy mascara. I love this baby so much, I never even thought of using an other one of the bajillion mascaras I still have roaming around in my make up drawer. Ladies and gentlemen; a review.

As many of you might know, Maxfactor is owned by the same company as US-based company Covergirl. They came out with the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara first, then Maxfactor soon came with the Clump Defy formula. Exactly the same mascara, just a different packaging.

Talking about packaging: I like the size of the tube, not as huge as seems to be the hype lately. The wand itself is curved in a round shape to perfectly fit the lashes.

Quality: As I mentioned in my Beauty discoveries of 2013, this product seems to be the lovechild of the Benefit They're Real and the Maybelline The Falsies mascaras. Perfect for separating, volumizing and lengthening! It is without a doubt my favorite mascara of all time.

Price: €14.99, certainly not the cheapest drugstore mascara out there. I usually try to get them during the sales or with special promotions!

Conclusion: My lashes have never looked so good with this mascara, I can honestly say it is the best I ever used and I feel it is my holy grail product! It seperates, lengthens and volumizes like nobodies business. Don't expect the most thickening formula with this mascara, but when I really want more thickness I sometimes use another mascara on top of this one.

It might be a bit more expensive for a drugstore mascara, but I feel like it is worth it, since it works better for me than any high-end mascara has.

MASCARA REVIEW: Rimmel Scandaleyes

Here I am with another mascara review! It’s been my first time trying a Rimmel mascara and since it looked so amazingly volumizing, I wanted to try it.

Quality:
This mascara volumizes and seperates quite well, but I still like to layer another mascara over it for lengthening and more seperating. However, I find it sometimes difficult to use because of the huge brush.

Packaging:
Yes, because of the huge brush! Seriously, how gi-normeous is this thing?? I had such a hard time not putting mascara on my eyelids because the brush is too big for my tiny, hooded eyes. Never thought I would ever bump upon a stupid issue like that!

I don’t really dislike this mascara. It’s okay. It’s workable and looks nice when layered with a lengthening mascara. However it’s not jaw dropping. And I did notice I disliked it more and more once it got drier. I'm not repurchasing it.

Have you tried the Rimmel Scandaleyes?

Mascara Review: Benefit they're real

This mascara has got the Blogosphere gone mad. This mascara from benefit is more expensive than your regular drugstore one, so you could already classify this as a more high-end mascara. I received this as a sample when I got the Benefit Mr Bright gift set for my birthday last year. I finally finished it and so, here's me review of this sample size.

The one thing that makes the huge difference with this mascara, is the wand. It's plastic and at the beginning I disliked it a lot. I've been using make-up for years, but this wand apparently made it very easy for me to stab my eyes with. However, the result of the mascara was stunning.

This mascara separated my lashes like nobody's business and it lengthened them as well. It didn't give a lot of volume. When the mascara was still very wet (as they always are when they're brand new), I did only apply two coats. After a third coat, my lashes looked a bit too spiderlike. When it dried out a bit though, I didn't have that problem anymore.

Would I repurchase this? Probably not, since I have enough drugstore mascara's I like that are cheaper. But if you're in the market for a more high-end mascara that makes it look a bit as if you have false lashes on, this could be the mascara for you!
